There were two applications for the Dorothy and Moses Passer Education Portfolio award for January 1, 2011. Dr. Andrew Robak, Keuka College, has been awarded up to $721 the Green Chemistry Workshop, July 16th to July 21st, 2011 at the University of Oregon. The second application was for a conference and these are not supported by the Dorothy and Moses Passer Education Portfolio. There have been two applications for the April 1, 2011 deadline and these are being reviewed by the Dorothy and Moses Passer Education Portfolio committee with a deadline of decision by March 11, 2011. I have just received another inquiry that meets the criteria and I am encouraging that person to formally apply. (The majority of applications for a deadline come in a day or two before that deadline date. I expect to get more since the summer is the busy time for workshops)
I have been concerned that the number of applications to Dorothy and Moses Passer Education Portfolio the have been down. I have been contacting the institutions that announce the criteria to apply to make sure that our announcements are appearing. Recently, I had the electronic link restored from the Center for Workshops in the Chemical Sciences (CWCS) to the Passer announcement on the Division web page.
Lastly, I will be stepping down as chairperson of the Dorothy and Moses Passer Education Portfolio Committee when my term ends at the end of Spring in 2011.
Richard Jones, Chairperson of Dorothy and Moses Passer Education Portfolio Committee.
