Committee on Chemistry in the Two-Year College (COCTYC) and the Two-Year College Chemistry Consortium (2YC3 ) Report, Spring 2016

Tamika Duplessis (chair@2yc3.org), 2016 Chair

The Two Year College Chemistry Consortium (2YC3) provides a forum for chemistry educators to enhance student learning through professional development conferences.  2YC3 is committed to the advancement of chemical education, the art of teaching chemistry, and the exchange of ideas and strategies regarding the first two years of chemistry and chemical technician programs. 2YC3 is open to chemistry educators at all levels- pre-service, high school, technical programs, two- and four-year colleges/universities in the US or elsewhere to learn more about innovative and effective ideas regarding teaching chemistry.

2YC3 membership continues to be strong and active within the two-year college community. This year we are on task to sponsor three conferences, including an amazing program during the BCCE.  We are fortunate to have a dedicated and supporting group of officers who work diligently year-round. This year we elected our 2YC3 2017 Chair Elect, Dr. Mary Roslonowski, from Eastern Florida State College.  Dr. Roslonowski has had over 14 years of two-year college experience and has been an active member of 2YC3 for over 10 years, attending and presenting at 2YC3 conferences, serving as 2YC3 193rd Conference Chair, and serving as a facilitator for the Resources for Excellence Workshops since 2010.  In addition, to our newly elected Chair Elect, this year will see some additional changes in 2YC3 governance.  Tom Higgins, who has been provided 2YC3 many years of dedicated service and unwavering support, has completed his tenure as Membership Chair.  In his departure, Jason Jadin, 2YC3 Chair 2012, will serve as the new Membership Chair. A complete list of 2016 officers can be found at our website (www.2yc3.org).
